Lately my tummy has been bulging a bit more than my mind can accept; hence I’ve been TRYING to cut on my carb intake. I’m afraid that my efforts are futile, though, so until my stomach decides to shrink back to an acceptable form, I’ll have to come up with ways to hide the bulge that it is. The other day, I wore this high waist flippy scuba skirt that a friend gave me for my recent birthday. I had tried to avoid wearing it for a while, thinking that I wouldn’t be able to breathe easily in it ‘coz it looks constricting with its scuba fabric. Surprisingly, it isn’t tight at all. Though it does a good job at hiding the tummy, the design of the skirt and the fabric (which is stretchy and thick) join forces in yielding a comfortable way of creating the illusion of having a small waist. One colleague asked if I had been skipping meals coz my waistline looked as if it’s only 16 inches in circumference. I did check right after; waist line is 26 inches – maybe my colleague’s hyperbolizing.
Well, whether she was exaggerating or not, this skirt really did a wonder on my tummy. Therefore, I am calling it a “girdle skirt”. But don’t use this name to look for it in stores, ‘coz it officially goes by “high waist flippy skirt” or just “flippy skirt”.
If right now you are contemplating on buying one for the purpose I stated above, make sure you get one with a scuba fabric, as other textiles may not yield the same result.

You do not look like you have a tummy at all! I have a high waist skirt, in a very nice fabric (though I couldn’t name it for you, ’cause I don’t know! :p) and it does high the ahem little muffin top (which I am melting away). 🙂

The skirt was really successful at hiding my tummy then. Haha. It’s true that the right clothing pieces can mask our problem areas. 🙂
Yes, indeed! Thank the fashion gods for such clothes, eh? 🙂
